Farming is what helped them survive the Great Depression, raise their families, and continue up to 2013 when my father sold the last goats. You'll never have your roads blocked off for marathons and festivals, but you'll still be able to savor all the downtown activity. You'll be about 10 mins. from anything in New Bern. With fast and painless highway access, downtown is nearly a straight shot from any close by road.
