Tricks and tips to get the very best Morehead City vacation rental experience:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • To find the best value, try changing your family's Morehead City vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer pleasant temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Morehead City vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • In the Morehead City area, The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are booked very early. Booking your rental property six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
  • Some property managers offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Morehead City area travel guide magazines which often include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Morehead City area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Planning, picking, and booking the perfectrental:

  • Begin by choosing your vacation dates and a spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Windy Dunes, Almost Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 6 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available online. If they are not listed, email the host before booking the vacation home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.

Tips for a great stay:

  • Add the owner's contact information to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Note any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if damages are assessed.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of concerns.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers disrupting your life at home. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent ratings to inspire new reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best rental home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
