Tips for getting the best Emerald Isle rental experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer is high season in Emerald Isle. To get the best value, consider changing your vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warm weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Morehead City vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property managers usually offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local Morehead City visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines contain money saving offers on nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Planning, selecting, and booking the rightvacation home:

  • Choose your dates and budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Windy Dunes, Almost Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 6 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible on booking websites. If not, reach out to the property management company before you book your home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • If your group is bringing pets, search for a rental that allows animals. Get specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts charge additional pet fees.
  • If there's an individual Morehead City beach you simply love, keep an eye out for homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Take a copy of the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent quite a few problems.
  • Lock your rental home while you're out. Protect your property!
  • To make certain damages are not linked to your family's stay, inspect the property for any problem areas when you arrive. Make contact with the property manager immediately to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are an excellent source for finding the best local spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Double-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
