Tips and Tricks for getting the best Morehead City rental home experience:
Find your perfect rental home:
- The sooner you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are reserved early. Reserving your rental home up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. To find the best value, shift your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer excellent temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Morehead City vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property management companies typically offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Morehead City area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines contain discounts for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Choosing and booking your Morehead City vacation home:
- Select vacation week and max budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Seaside Paws, 4 Bedroom, 4 Bathroom Oceanfront Duplex in Emerald Isle, NC! has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is normally available online. If they are not listed, reach out to the property owner before booking your rental. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to book a rental that allows animals. Get specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.
Considerations for your stay:
- Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. Put the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of concerns.
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would back home.
- At Check-in, note any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Be respectful. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Double-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed everything at check-out. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
- Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on good feedback to drive more bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation rental. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
