How to get the best Morehead City rental home experience:

When to visit Emerald Isle & When to reserve a rental home:

  • Booking your Morehead City vacation home in the Fall or Spring is a great way to save money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes.
  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some property management companies offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines have discounts for local accommodations and attractions.

How to choose and book the bestrental:

  • Start by choosing your vacation dates and a budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Cordelia, Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available online. Otherwise, call the property management company before you reserve the home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches. You will need to establish what bed configuration is right for your family.
  • Visiting for a single event or attraction? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property management company about pet restrictions before booking.

Additional considerations:

  • Be sure you get the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your .
  • To make sure that damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, inspect the property for any problem areas upon check in. Get in touch with the property manager right away to document any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your peaceful home. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let burglars spoil your holiday.
  • On check-out day, complete a walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a great time? Most rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
