Our top Pine Knoll Shores vacation rental tips and tricks:

How to get the best rental value:

  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer is the most expensive season in Pine Knoll Shores. To find the best rental within budget, we recommend booking in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite Morehead City restaurants and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Morehead City vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Property managers typically offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Look for your local Morehead City area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines contain money saving offers on nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

How to choose the perfect vacation rental in the Morehead City area:

  • Select a group lead, select your dates, and choose a spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Seacluded Tree House, Oceanfront House in Pine Knoll Shores, NC! has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is normally available on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the property manager before you book the home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to establish what configuration is suitable for your group.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or could be applied to your agreement.
  • Visiting for a single attraction or event? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

Advice for your stay:

  • Take a copy of the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent many concerns.
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Record any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are valuable if a dispute is filed.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic source for finding the best local beaches.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • At departure, complete a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did you have a wonderful vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
