Vacation rental home tips and tricks:

Finding the best rental home value:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Morehead City area. To get the best rental home for your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Morehead City vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • In the Morehead City area, The earlier you can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation rental up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Property management companies often offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Morehead City area visitor guide magazines which include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Morehead City visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Planning, selecting, and booking your Morehead City rental home:

  • First and foremost, have your family agree to trip dates and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Simple Blessings - Soundfront cottage with dock and boatlift - ask for discount has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available on booking pages. If not, contact the property owner before booking the property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to determine which bed configuration is suitable for your trip.
  • Are you visiting for a single event? If so, use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.

Additional considerations:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. Store the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • During arrival, record any issues with the property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many difficulties.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a fantastic resource to find the best local scenic spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let thieves ruin your trip.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all of your things. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent reviews to compel more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
