Strategies to get the best vacation home experience:

Getting the best rental home value:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Emerald Isle. Booking your Morehead City vacation home in Fall or Spring months is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Morehead City vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • In the Morehead City area, The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked very early. Reserving your rental property 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group.
  • Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Morehead City area visitor guide magazines which include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Morehead City visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • First, have your group decide on date ranges and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your group needs. Island Dreams, Oceanside House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible online. If you don't see them listed, email the property manager before booking the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Looking for special amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or may be applied to your contract.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Get the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To make sure that damages are not attributed to your stay, make note of any problem areas upon check in. E-mail the rental manager immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are an incredible source for finding the best local scenic spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Double-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed everything at departure. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and scan for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a great stay? Many rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
