Tips for getting the perfect Morehead City vacation property experience:

Getting the most from your budget:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in New Bern. Booking in Fall or Spring months is our best tip for saving money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
  • In the Morehead City area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation home up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Property managers usually offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local Morehead City area magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guides have discounts for nearby accommodations and attractions.

Planning, selecting, and booking the perfectrental home:

  • Start by having your family select the best dates and a spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Private 3BR Historic Farmhouse near downtown New Bern on 33 acres has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible online. If you don't see them listed, email the property owner before reserving the property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Looking for special amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.
  • Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or costs may be applied to your invoice.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Add a note with the instructions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
  • Note any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors bothering your quiet neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Double-check the property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on great ratings to drive new reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
