Tips to get the very best Morehead City rental home experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • Summer is the most expensive season in coastal NC. Booking your vacation rental in Fall or Spring months is an excellent way to save on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • In the Morehead City area, The earlier you can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked early. Reserving your vacation property up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your family qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Many property management companies supply Morehead City area visitors guide magazines which will include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Morehead City visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • Select a group lead, select your dates, and choose a spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Double Up in Downtown New Bern! has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly accessible online. Otherwise, contact the property management company before you book your home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
  • If there's a particular Morehead City destination you love, look for homes that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or could be applied to your contract.

More considerations:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Upon check-in, document any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many concerns.
  • Be a good neighbor. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • Double-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property one final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent ratings to inspire new bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
