Emerald Isle rental home booking tips and tricks:

Sticking to a budget:

  • The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are reserved very early. Booking your rental home six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. To get the most suitable vacation home for your budget, we highly recommend reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at Morehead City restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Morehead City vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Owners sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Booking websites often offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Look for your local Morehead City area magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides have offers and deals for local accommodations, tours and attractions.

How to choose the best rental home in the Morehead City area:

  • Choose a designated group leader, select your trip dates, and select a max budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration you need. License to Chill, Almost Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 5 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, contact the property management company before reserving the property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Some properties allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the host about pet restrictions before booking.
  • Is your family looking for special amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking

During your stay:

  • Get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent quite a few concerns.
  • Lock your rental home while you're away. Protect your property!
  • To ensure that damages are not attributed to your visit, make a record of any problem areas upon check in. Speak to the property manager immediately to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your life at home. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected everything. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a terrific stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
