Morehead City rental booking tips and tricks:

Finding your perfect vacation home:

  • Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal NC. To find the best value, change your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic.
  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your group qualifies for a discount.
  • Property management companies usually offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Many management companies supply Morehead City area travel guides which include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Morehead City visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • Select a designated group leader, choose your trip dates, and select a budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Dogwood Treehouse in Pine Knoll Shores, NC has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is often accessible online. If they are not listed, email the property owner before booking the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
  • If your group is bringing pets, filter your search for a property that allows animals. Request details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, hosts charge additional pet fees.

Advice for a great stay:

  • Put the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • To make certain no damages are attributed to your stay, inspect for any problem areas upon your arrival. Call the host right away to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent quite a few problems.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let thieves spoil your family vacation.
  • Just before checking out, complete a final walk-through to make sure you didn't leave anything behind. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on good ratings to propel more reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
