Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Atlantic Beach vacation rental experience:

Get the most from your vacation rental budget:

  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • To find the best value, consider changing your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer great weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Morehead City vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Property management companies frequently offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Morehead City area visitors guides which will include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Morehead City area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Use filters to narrow your rental search:

  • Choose a group leader, select your vacation week, and select a budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Getaway in the sun with updated interior, sunroom, W\/D, & AC - close to beaches has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is often available on booking websites. Otherwise, contact the property manager before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to determine what is right for your vacation.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you will need a rental that allows animals. Get details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Store the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your rental home while you are out. Protect your property!
  • Note any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if a dispute is filed.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a fantastic vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
