Our top Rental home tips and tricks:

Sticking to a rental budget:

  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summertime is high season in Beaufort. To book the best rental home for your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities.
  • Some owners offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Morehead City area travel guide magazines which include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Morehead City visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Planning, selecting, and booking the perfectrental home:

  • First and foremost, have your family decide on trip dates and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Contemporary townhome with patio, grill, balcony, W\/D, & walkable location has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is normally available online. Otherwise, email or call the property management company before booking the rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to work out what is right for your family.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the owner about allowable breeds and types before booking.
  • If there's an individual Morehead City beach you simply love, keep an eye out for properties that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .

Know before you go:

  • Add the owner's phone number to your phone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Lock your rental while you are away. Keep your property safe!
  • Make a record of any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if damages are assessed.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Just prior to departing, complete a final walk-through to confirm you didn't forget any personal items. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property one final time and scan for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent reviews to propel future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
