Strategies to get the optimal Morehead City vacation home experience:

When to book a Morehead City rental home & When to go:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Morehead City area. To book the best vacation home within budget, we suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at Morehead City restaurants, beaches, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Morehead City vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • The earlier your group can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Reserving your rental home 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your family qualifies for a discount.
  • Property management companies typically offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Morehead City area visitor guide magazines that include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Morehead City visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Filter your search:

  • Start by having your family commit to the best dates and a max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Captain's Escape, Almost Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is almost always available on booking pages. If not, call the host before booking the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is suitable for your vacation.
  • Does your family require specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Take a copy of the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
  • To ensure that no damages are attributed to your family's stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas when you arrive. text the host immediately to record any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of concerns.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers bothering your peace and quiet. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would've never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your rental while you are out and about. Protect your property!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a terrific vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
