How to get the best vacation rental experience:

Find your perfect vacation home:

  • Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. Reserve your Morehead City rental property in the Fall or Spring to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Morehead City vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • The sooner your group can book, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Booking your vacation rental six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
  • Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Morehead City area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides contain money saving offers on local accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Make a plan and pick your prefectvacation home:

  • Choose a group leader, choose your vacation dates, and select a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Cabin: Lower Winter prices! Snowbirds Welcome! Bring your boat for fall fishing has 3 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible online. If they are not listed, email or call the host before booking the rental. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • If there's a certain Morehead City beach you are enamored with, look for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
  • Some properties allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the host about your furry family members before booking.

Have a wonderful stay:

  • Add the host's information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Document any issues with the property at check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if damages are assessed.
  • Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your quiet neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Re-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at departure. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on good ratings to compel more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
