Strategies for getting the best Morehead City rental experience:

When to visit Beaufort & When to book:

  • Booking your Morehead City vacation home in Spring or Fall is our best tip for saving money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Morehead City vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • In the Morehead City area, The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved early. Booking your vacation home six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
  • Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Morehead City visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guides have discounts for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • Select your vacation week and budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. House: Lower Winter prices! Snowbirds Welcome! Bring your boat for fall fishing has 3 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Morehead City rental home search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, call the property owner before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Visiting for a single attraction? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a property that allows animals. Get information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.

Tips for your stay:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. Store the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Record any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if damages are assessed.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of difficulties.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your family have a great vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your property and/or host was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
