Vacation rental home tips and tricks:

Get the most from your vacation rental budget:

  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Booking in Fall or Spring months is an excellent way to save money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Property managers typically offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Morehead City area visitors guide magazines which often include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Morehead City visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Planning and choosing the perfect Morehead City vacation home:

  • Start by having your family commit to vacation dates and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. House: Lower Winter prices! Snowbirds Welcome! Bring your boat for fall fishing has 3 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Morehead City vacation rental search.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, contact the property management company before reserving the vacation home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to establish what is optimal for your trip.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property manager about your furry family members before booking.
  • If there's a certain Morehead City destination you crave, search for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .

More considerations:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Add a note with the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Upon arrival, record any damages to the property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers bothering your home life. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on good ratings to inspire future reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will will be grateful for your review find their best vacation rental. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
