Finding the best Morehead City vacation property experience:

Get the most from your rental home budget:

  • The sooner your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are booked very early. Reserving your rental up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Morehead City area. To get the best value, try shifting your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Look for your local Morehead City area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines have discounts for local accommodations and attractions.

Finding the perfect vacation home:

  • Choose a group leader, choose your vacation dates, and select a budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. A quick walk across the dune to the sparkling Crystal Coast of Atlantic Beach NC has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly accessible online. Otherwise, email the property manager before reserving the property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • If your family is bringing pets, search for a pet-friendly property. Get details on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, property owners charge additional pet fees.
  • Looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.

Tips for a great stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your phone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of concerns.
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Upon arrival, document any issues with the property and immediately alert the owner. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors bothering your quiet neighborhood. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would've never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected everything. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property one final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave feedback! Property managers rely on good feedback to inspire more reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
