Rental home tips and tricks:

Cost saving strategies:

  • To book the largest vacation home within budget, we suggest booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Morehead City vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer promotional rates for veterans. Ask your property manager if discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Property management companies typically offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guides have discounts for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

Planning, picking, and booking the rightrental:

  • Select your vacation dates and maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Ocean Front Home in Sea Dreams Community! (Dolphin Dreams) has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Morehead City rental home search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible online. If not, reach out to the property manager before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches.
  • If there's an individual Morehead City beach you long to visit, search for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .
  • Some rentals allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the owner about allowable pet guidelines before booking.

More tips for your stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your smartphone.
  • Upon arrival, document any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents lots of problems.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be an incredible resource to find the best local attractions.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let thieves spoil your trip.
  • Re-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed everything at check-out. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the rental one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, remember to take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a excellent stay? Many rental websites make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
