Our top Vacation rental home tips:

Get the most from your rental home budget:

  • Summer is the most expensive season in the Morehead City area. Reserve your rental home in the Fall or Spring to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
  • In the Morehead City area, The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved early. Reserving your vacation home 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Look for your local Morehead City visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guides contain discounts for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Filter your rental search:

  • Start by selecting trip dates and a budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Temple Cottage - Walking distance to downtown has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible online. If they are not listed, email the property management company before booking your rental. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to establish what is optimal for your vacation group.
  • If there's a certain Morehead City beach you crave, browse properties that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Some rentals allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask your host about pets before booking.

Advice for a fantastic stay:

  • Be sure you get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. Put the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • To ensure that no damages are attributed to your family's stay, make note of any problem areas upon your arrival. text the host immediately to record any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few concerns.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Re-check the property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property a final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent ratings to stimulate future bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
