How to find the best vacation property experience:

Sticking to a rental home budget:

  • Reserve your Morehead City rental in Spring or Fall to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Morehead City vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Morehead City visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guide magazines contain discounts for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Start by choosing your potential vacation weeks and a budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. UPDATED Sea-renity EAST near boat ramp has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the host before booking the rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches.
  • Does your group require specific amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, property owners charge pet deposits and fees.

Know before you go:

  • Add the property manager's contact information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • To make sure no damages are attributed to your stay, note any problem areas upon your arrival. Call the rental manager right away to record any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a excellent stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
