Vacation rental home tips and tricks:

Money saving strategies:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Emerald Isle. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties.
  • The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved early. Booking your vacation home six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
  • Some property managers offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
  • Booking websites frequently offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Look for your local Morehead City area magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides have discounts for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Planning and choosing your Morehead City rental home:

  • Choose a designated group leader, select your vacation week, and select a max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Nina Street House, Oceanside House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, email the property management company before you reserve the home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Looking for specific amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental home.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly rental. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, hosts charge additional pet fees.

Additional considerations:

  • Add the owner's contact info to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • To make certain that no damages are linked to your stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas during arrival. Speak to the rental manager immediately to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few problems.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers bothering your quiet neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the property to confirm you've collected everything. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and look for damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a great vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
