Strategies to get the best vacation property experience:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer months are high season in Emerald Isle. To find the largest rental within budget, we highly recommend booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Morehead City vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Booking websites usually offer their guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Morehead City area visitors guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Morehead City visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Choosing the best vacation home in Emerald Isle:

  • Choose a group leader, select your vacation dates, and select a budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Nina Street House, Oceanside House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is generally available on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the property manager before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you must reserve a rental that allows animals. Request information on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Additional considerations:

  • Be sure you get the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your .
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of concerns.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are out! Don't let thieves ruin your holiday.
  • During arrival, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the host. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers disrupting your peaceful home. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Just prior to departing, complete a walk-through to make sure you did not forget anything. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host isn't available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent feedback to propel more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
