Strategies to get the perfect rental experience:

Get the most from your vacation rental budget:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. Booking your Morehead City vacation rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is a great way to save on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties.
  • The earlier you can book, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are reserved early. Booking your vacation rental six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
  • Hosts sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby accommodations and attractions.

How to choose the perfect vacation rental in the Morehead City area:

  • First, have your family commit to the best dates and a spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Summer Winds B-133, Oceanfront Condo in Indian Beach, NC! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available on booking pages. Otherwise, call the property owner before booking the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to determine what bed configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
  • If there's an individual Morehead City attraction you are enamored with, keep an eye out for properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or charges applied to your contract.

Know before you go:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your phone.
  • To make sure that no damages are linked to your family's stay, make note of any problem areas upon your arrival. Call the host immediately to relay any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a terrific resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let burglars ruin your vacation.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all belongings. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property one final time and scan for damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, take pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Did you have a great time? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
