Tips for getting the perfect Atlantic Beach rental experience:

When to go & When to reserve a rental home:

  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Morehead City area. To get the largest rental within your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at popular attractions and restaurants.
  • Some property managers offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your group.
  • Property management companies often offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Look for your local Morehead City area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, travel guides have money saving offers on local accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Narrow your rental Search:

  • First and foremost, have your family select dates and a budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Condo with on-site beach access, pools, grill\/picnic areas, & private balcony has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the property manager before you reserve your rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you will need a rental that allows animals. Ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, hosts charge additional pet fees.
  • If there's a certain Morehead City beach you long to visit, look for properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

More considerations:

  • Get the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of difficulties.
  • Lock your rental property while you're out! Don't let crooks spoil your vacation.
  • Document any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if a dispute arises.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Double-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed everything at departure. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
