Vacation rental booking tips:

Finding your perfect rental home:

  • To find the best value, try changing your family's Morehead City vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer pleasant temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Morehead City vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your family qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Booking websites often offer renters an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Morehead City area visitor guides which will include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Morehead City visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Selecting and booking your prefectvacation home:

  • Select a designated group leader, select your trip dates, and select a maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Stunning water views, walk to beach! 2 bed, 2 bath, condo on the Bogue sound. has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is commonly available on booking websites. Otherwise, call the property owner before reserving your home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Is your family looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or could be applied to your agreement.

Advice for a smooth stay:

  • Store the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Upon check-in, document any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the host. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Double-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental one final time and look for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a wonderful stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
