Tips for getting the best Pine Knoll Shores rental home experience:

Find your best deal:

  • Summertime is high season in the Morehead City area. Book your Morehead City rental property in Fall or Spring months to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
  • The earlier you can book, the easier your search will be. The best properties are reserved early. Booking your rental six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
  • Some hosts offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Morehead City area magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guides contain money saving offers on nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Narrow your rental Search:

  • First, have your group choose a vacation week and a max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. “Spivey’s Korner” Ocean Views, Easy Steps to quiet sandy Beach - secure WiFi has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Morehead City rental home search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available online. Otherwise, contact the property management company before you book the home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to work out what is optimal for your group.
  • Are you looking for unique amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
  • Some rentals allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable breeds and types before booking.

More considerations:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Make a record of any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if a dispute arises.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Respect your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let thieves ruin your vacation.
  • Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget anything. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a excellent time? Most rental websites make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
