Beaufort vacation rental tips and tricks:

Cost saving strategies:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Morehead City area. To find the best value, shift your family's Morehead City vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warm weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Morehead City vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best properties are booked very early. Reserving your vacation rental 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Property managers typically offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Morehead City area visitor guides which often include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Morehead City visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Filter your rental search:

  • Select vacation week and spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. Classic bungalow with water views, dog friendly & 3 block walk downtown has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property manager before you book the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to work out what is right for your vacation group.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, search for a property that allows animals. Ask for details on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, property managers charge additional pet fees.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Add the property manager's phone number to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Upon arrival, note any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers bothering your peaceful home life. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the property to confirm you've collected everything. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a terrific vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
