Rental home booking tips and tricks:

When to reserve a Morehead City rental & When to go:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Emerald Isle. To find the best value, consider changing your trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Morehead City vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • In the Morehead City area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved early. Booking your rental home up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
  • Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
  • Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Often, management companies supply Morehead City area visitor guides which will include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Morehead City area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Select a designated group leader, choose your trip dates, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Sound Of The Sea East 125, Oceanfront Condo in Emerald Isle, NC! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, email the host before booking your rental. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to work out what is best for your trip.
  • Visiting for a specific event? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you will need a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.

Tips to have a smooth stay:

  • Store the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Make a record of any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if there is a dispute.
  • Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your life at home. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Keep the property locked while you are away! Don't let burglars spoil your vacation.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did you have a excellent stay? Many rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
