Tricks and tips to get the perfect Morehead City vacation rental experience:

Sticking to your rental home budget:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Morehead City area. Booking your vacation home in the Fall or Spring is a great way to save money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties.
  • Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Morehead City area visitors guide magazines which often include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Morehead City visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

How to choose the perfect vacation rental in the Morehead City area:

  • Start by selecting the best vacation week and a max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration you need. 4BR, Ocean Front, Dogs OK - One Level! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is normally available online. Otherwise, email the property owner before you book the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to work out what is right for your trip.
  • Is your group looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
  • Some properties allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property manager about pet restrictions before booking.

During your stay:

  • Add the owner's contact info to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • To ensure that damages aren't linked to your family's visit, make note of any problem areas when you arrive. E-mail the host immediately to record any damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents lots of difficulties.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be an incredible source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Protect your property!
  • Double-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on great reviews to compel more reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
