About this Property

  • Sleeps 4
  • 2 Bedrooms
  • 2 Bathrooms
  • Private vacation home
  • Approximately 1150 square feet

This unique historic home was originally a dependency to the sizable Coor-Bishop House located a half block away, where President James Monroe stayed in 1819 while touring the South.

The home contains two enormous bedrooms with vaulted ceilings and new King beds with new beds. One King bed can be converted to two Twin XLs upon request. The home
is freshly refreshed with fresh paint, new furnishings, luxury linens and amenities and a new gas range in the well-appointed kitchen.

Walk to the riverfront, Tryon Palace and historic downtown and its many eateries, bars, stores, and galleries. Unwind on the screen porch. Cruise or kayak the Neuse and Trent Rivers. Take a short 45-min. drive to Beaufort, Oriental, and the striking Crystal Coast beaches.

Sorry, but no kids under 8 years of age. Infants are welcome but we do not provide cribs or playards.

PLEASE NOTE: The home is located on a raised basement with 12 steps from the street level to the front door. All bedrooms are on the second floor.

Tips and Tricks to get the perfect rental experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Reserve your Morehead City vacation home in Spring or Fall to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Morehead City vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your family qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Property management companies often offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Morehead City area visitors guides that include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Morehead City visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Selecting and booking the bestrental:

  • To start, have your group choose the best dates and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Circa 1810 Home - Downtown New Bern Historic District - 2 BRs with King Beds has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible online. If they are not listed, email or call the property owner before you book the rental. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
  • Some properties allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property management company about pet restrictions before booking.
  • Visiting for a single attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Get the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your vacation home while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • Note any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be helpful if a dispute is filed.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a fantastic resource to find the best local scenic spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, remember to take photos of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a wonderful stay? Many rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
