Our top Rental home tips:

Find your perfect vacation home:

  • In the Morehead City area, The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Booking your rental property 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
  • Summer months are high season in Beaufort. Book your Morehead City vacation home in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
  • Booking websites often offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guides contain offers and deals for local accommodations and attractions.

How to select the perfect rental in the Morehead City area:

  • Choose your vacation week and maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your family needs. White Ibis Retreat - New Rental! Pet Friendly 2 bedroom has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is commonly available on booking pages. Otherwise, call the property manager before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to establish what configuration is right for your vacation.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or charges could be applied to your invoice.
  • Is your family looking for specific amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental home.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.

Tips to have a wonderful stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Add a note with the directions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of problems.
  • Lock your rental home while you're out. Protect your property!
  • Make a record of any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if damages are assessed.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers bothering your peace. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Double-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and scan for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a great time? Many rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
