Tricks and tips to get the perfect vacation home experience:

When to visit Indian Beach & When to reserve a rental home:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. Booking in the Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
  • The earlier your group can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are booked very early. Booking your rental property six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Booking websites typically offer customers an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Look for your local Morehead City visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides contain money saving offers on local accommodations and attractions.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Start by choosing vacation dates and a budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Nautical Club 708, Soundfront Condo in Indian Beach, NC! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, email the property owner before reserving the rental. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.

  • If your family is vacationing with pets, search for a pet-friendly property. Ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, property managers charge additional pet fees.

More considerations:

  • Be sure you get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your .
  • Upon arrival, note any damages to the property and immediately alert the host. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your peaceful home life. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your rental while you're out and about. Protect your property!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected everything. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent feedback to propel future reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your feedback find their best vacation home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
