Tricks and tips to get the best vacation rental experience:

Getting the most from your rental home budget:

  • The sooner you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked early. Booking your vacation rental six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
  • Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. Book your Morehead City rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Morehead City vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Some owners offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Property management companies typically offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Look for your local Morehead City area magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guides have deals for nearby shops and restaurants.

Finding the best rental:

  • Choose vacation dates and maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Beach Combers - Almost Oceanfront 3BR 3BA - downtown Emerald Isle has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property management company before you reserve the property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You'll need to determine what is suitable for your vacation family.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly property. Request details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some hosts charge additional pet fees.
  • Are you looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.

Additional considerations:

  • Take a copy of the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. Put the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let burglars spoil your holiday.
  • To make certain that damages are not linked to your family's visit, inspect the property for any problem areas during check in. Make contact with the property manager immediately to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors bothering your home life. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Just prior to departing, take a walk-through to make sure you didn't leave anything behind. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on good reviews to propel new bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation rental. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
