Strategies to get the very best vacation rental experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • Summer time is high season in the Morehead City area. Booking your vacation rental in Fall or Spring is an excellent way to save money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Morehead City vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • In the Morehead City area, The earlier you can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are booked very early. Reserving your vacation home six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Property management companies typically offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Look for your local Morehead City visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines contain offers and deals for nearby accommodations and attractions.

Planning, selecting, and booking a perfectrental:

  • Begin by selecting potential vacation weeks and a max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Oceanfront Escape - Oceanfront House in Pine Knoll Shores, NC! has 7 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is commonly available online. If you don't see them listed, email the property owner before reserving the property. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is optimal for your vacation group.
  • Does your family require particular amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable pet guidelines before booking.

More tips for your visit:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the directions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
  • During check-in, note any damages to the property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few issues.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your home life. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would have never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Re-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent ratings to drive future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
