Strategies to get the best Morehead City vacation rental experience:

Sticking to a budget:

  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of NC. Booking in the Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties.
  • Hosts sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Many rental management companies supply Morehead City area visitor guides which will include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Morehead City visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Narrow your rental Search:

  • Choose vacation week and maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Charming beach condo with seasonal pool & washer\/dryer - steps from the ocean has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the host before reserving the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches. You will need to establish what bed configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you must book a property that allows animals. Get specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Visiting for a single attraction or event? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.

Additional considerations:

  • Add the host's information to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of concerns.
  • Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Protect your property!
  • Upon arrival, make note of any damages to the property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors bothering your peaceful home. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • On check-out day, complete a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did you have a great vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
