Rental home tips and tricks:

Getting the most from your budget:

  • Summer is high season in the Morehead City area. Booking in Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes.
  • The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved early. Booking your vacation home six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer special rates for veterans. Ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites typically offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local Morehead City visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines contain offers and deals for nearby shops and restaurants.

Planning and choosing the perfectrental home:

  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let thieves spoil your holiday.
  • Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and scan for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on good ratings to compel new reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback.
