Our top New Bern rental booking tips and tricks:

Getting the best value:

  • Reserving a rental home in the Spring or Fall is an excellent way to save on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Morehead City vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Morehead City area travel guide magazines that include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Morehead City visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Planning, picking, and booking your Morehead City vacation home:

  • Choose a group leader, select your dates, and select a spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration your group requires. Downtown Historic New Bern Apartment Next door to Birthplace of Pepsi has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Morehead City rentals search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible on booking websites. If not, email or call the host before booking the rental. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine what configuration is best for your family.
  • If there's a specific Morehead City attraction you love, look for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, search for a rental that allows animals. Get specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, hosts charge additional pet fees.

More tips for your stay:

  • Get the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
  • Make a record of any issues with the property at check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if damages are assessed.
  • Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a great resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your rental home while you are out. Protect your property!
  • Re-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on good feedback to drive new bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
