Our top Morehead City rental home tips and tricks:

Cost saving strategies:

  • To find the best rental home for your budget, we suggest reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at Morehead City restaurants, tours, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Morehead City vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • In the Morehead City area, The sooner your group can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved early. Booking your rental up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Property managers usually offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Morehead City area travel guides which include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Morehead City area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Planning, picking, and booking the perfectrental home:

  • Begin by choosing your the best vacation week and a spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Waterfront Home with Dock - Short walk to Ocean has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Morehead City rental home search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available on booking websites. If not, email or call the property owner before you book the rental. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish what bed configuration is optimal for your family.
  • If there's a particular Morehead City attraction you are crazy about, browse homes that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
  • Some rentals allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable pet guidelines before booking.

Know before you go:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your smartphone.
  • To ensure that no damages are attributed to your stay, make note of any problem areas upon your arrival. Get in touch with the host immediately to document any damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be an incredible resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your vacation home while you're away. Keep your property safe!
  • Double-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed everything at departure. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your family have a terrific vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
