New Bern rental property booking tips:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summertime is the most expensive season in New Bern. Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Property management companies typically offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Morehead City area visitors guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Morehead City visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Filter your search:

  • Select a group lead, choose your dates, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration you need. The Lookout by Salty Sweet Retreats has 1 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible on booking pages. If not, contact the property management company before you book the property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or charges might be applied to your agreement.
  • Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

More considerations:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of difficulties.
  • Keep the property locked while you are away! Don't let burglars ruin your vacation.
  • To make sure no damages are linked to your stay, make note of any problem areas when you arrive. Speak to the rental manager immediately to document any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your peaceful home life. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the rental one final time and scan for damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on great feedback to inspire more bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
