Morehead City vacation rental home tips and tricks:

Sticking to your rental home budget:

  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summertime is the most expensive season in Emerald Isle. Reserve your Morehead City rental property in Spring or Fall to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
  • Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your group.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local Morehead City visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines contain deals for local shops and restaurants.

Finding the best rental:

  • Start by choosing your vacation dates and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Sound Escape, Sound Side Studio Condo in Emerald Isle has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the property management company before you reserve your rental. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
  • Does your group require unique amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental home.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

More tips for your visit:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Add a note with the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of issues.
  • Lock your rental while you are out and about. Protect your property!
  • Note any issues with the property during check in, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be helpful if damages are assessed.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • When it's time to leave, complete a final walk-through to make sure you have not forget anything. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Leave a review! Property managers rely on great ratings to compel future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
