Strategies for getting the best Morehead City rental experience:

When to visit Indian Beach & When to book:

  • Summer months are the most expensive season in the Morehead City area. Booking your vacation home in Fall or Spring is a great way to save money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Owners sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
  • Property management companies usually offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Morehead City visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides have money saving offers on local accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Finding the perfect rental in Indian Beach:

  • First and foremost, have your family agree to trip dates and a spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Oceanfront, ground-floor condo with 4 pools & 2 hot tubs - steps to the beach has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible online. Otherwise, call the property management company before you reserve the home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out what configuration is best for your vacation.
  • Are you looking for special amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.
  • Some properties allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask your host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.

More considerations:

  • Add the property manager's information to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Note any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are very helpful if there is a dispute.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your peace and quiet. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would have never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Keep the property locked while you are away! Don't let burglars ruin your family vacation.
  • Re-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a terrific time? Most rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
