Our top Emerald Isle vacation rental booking tips and tricks:

Finding your perfect rental:

  • To book the most suitable vacation home within your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at Morehead City restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved early. Reserving your vacation home six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer special rates for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers typically offer guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Morehead City area visitor guide magazines that include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Morehead City visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

How to pick the perfect vacation rental:

  • Begin by choosing your the best vacation week and a max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. Healios, Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is usually available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email the property manager before you book the home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to work out which bed configuration is optimal for your vacation.
  • If there's a certain Morehead City attraction you simply love, search for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or may be applied to your agreement.

Additional considerations:

  • We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To make sure damages aren't linked to your family's visit, note any problem areas during arrival. text the host right away to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent many issues.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers bothering your home life. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would've not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Lock your rental while you are out and about. Protect your property!
  • Double-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your group have a terrific stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
