Tips and Tricks to get the best Morehead City rental home experience:

When to go & When to reserve a rental home:

  • The sooner your group can book, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked very early. Booking your rental 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
  • Summer months are high season in Emerald Isle. To find the best value, consider shifting your family's Morehead City vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer customers an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Many property management companies supply Morehead City area travel guide magazines which often include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Morehead City area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

How to choose and book the best Morehead City rental home:

  • Select a group lead, select your vacation week, and select a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration you need. Healios, Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is regularly available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the host before you book your home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You will need to establish what bed configuration is optimal for your group.
  • Some properties allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the host about pets before booking.
  • Looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental home.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking

More tips for your stay:

  • Be sure you get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. Store the host's information in your smartphone.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
  • Document any damages to the property during check in, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be beneficial if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Double-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent feedback to compel future bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
