Our top Emerald Isle rental booking tips:

When to reserve a Morehead City rental home & When to go:

  • In the Morehead City area, The earlier your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are reserved early. Booking your vacation property six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Summer months are the most expensive season in Emerald Isle. To book the most suitable rental home within your budget, we recommend booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Morehead City vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property managers typically offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Morehead City area visitors guide magazines which include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Morehead City visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • To start, have your group agree to date ranges and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your group requires. Ocean Front Cottage with Mother-in-law Suite has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Morehead City rentals search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the host before you book the vacation property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to find a property that allows animals. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Take a copy of the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your . Store the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let crooks ruin your holiday.
  • Document any issues with the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are useful if there is a dispute.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors disrupting your life at home. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Re-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on great ratings to inspire new bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
