Our top Vacation rental home tips and tricks:

Get the best value:

  • Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. Booking your Morehead City vacation home in Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Morehead City vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your group.
  • Property managers often offer guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Morehead City area visitors guide magazines which will include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Planning and picking the best Morehead City vacation home:

  • Start by choosing the best vacation week and a budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Legally Blonde, Almost Oceanfront House in Indian Beach, NC! has 6 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is normally available online. If they are not listed, contact the property owner before booking your rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You will need to establish what configuration is suitable for your family.
  • Visiting for a single attraction or event? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or costs might be applied to your contract.

Tips to have a wonderful stay:

  • Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your visit, inspect for any problem areas during arrival. Contact the rental manager right away to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents a lot of issues.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are an incredible source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your rental home while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • When it's time to leave, complete a final walk-through to confirm you haven't forget any personal items. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property one final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, remember to take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a fantastic stay? Many rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your property and/or host was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
