Tips for getting the perfect Emerald Isle vacation home experience:

Sticking to your rental home budget:

  • Summer months are high season in Emerald Isle. Reserve your rental property in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Hosts sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
  • Property managers typically offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Look for your local Morehead City visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines contain coupons for local accommodations and attractions.

How to choose and book your prefect Morehead City rental:

  • First, have your family commit to a vacation week and a budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. New! Updated Villa in Emerald Isle, near the Point has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available on booking websites. If not, call the host before you reserve the property. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to work out what configuration is right for your trip.
  • Looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, filter your search for a rental that allows animals. Get information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.

Tips for a fantastic stay:

  • Add the host's contact information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • To ensure that damages aren't linked to your stay, record any problem areas upon your arrival. Speak to the rental manager right away to report any damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents lots of concerns.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your rental property while you're out! Don't let thieves spoil your family vacation.
  • Double-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed everything at departure. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a wonderful stay? Many rental managers make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
