Booking the best Morehead City vacation property experience:

Getting the most from your spending budget:

  • Summer months are high season in New Bern. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is an excellent way to save on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
  • The earlier your group can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are booked early. Reserving your vacation home up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group.
  • Booking websites often offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Often, management companies supply Morehead City area visitor guide magazines which often include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Morehead City visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Planning, picking, and booking the best Morehead City rental:

  • Select your vacation dates and spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Lovely 1 BR with King bed Apt 1 has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available on booking websites. If not, reach out to the property manager before you book the home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property management company about pets before booking.

Additional considerations:

  • Be sure you get the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. Store the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Note any issues with the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be beneficial if damages are assessed.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your vacation home while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • Just before checking out, complete a final walk-through to make sure you didn't forget anything. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on great reviews to compel future bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
