Years ago, when I was looking for a home on the island I came across this property. When I walked up the front steps for the first time, I entered into a peaceful little wonderland. Set up high on a sand dune surrounded by trees, this property is the ideal calming hideaway. Set smack dab in the middle of town, it is walking/cycling distance to nearly everything in Emerald Isle. It is 1 block from the sound and about 7 blocks to the ocean.

Tips for getting the perfect Morehead City vacation property experience:

How to get the best rental value:

  • In the Morehead City area, The earlier your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation rental up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Emerald Isle. Booking your vacation rental in the Fall or Spring is a great way to save money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your family qualifies for a special rate.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Many rental management companies supply Morehead City area travel guides which will include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Morehead City visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

How to choose the perfect vacation rental:

  • First, have your family agree to dates and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Island Treehouse has 1 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the property management company before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Some properties allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
  • Is your group looking for unique amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .

Additional considerations:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Add a note with the directions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents a lot of issues.
  • Keep the property locked while you are away! Don't let burglars ruin your family vacation.
  • At Check-in, document any issues with the property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a terrific resource to find the best local spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Double-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did you have a wonderful stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
