Tips and Tricks to get the best rental home experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Atlantic Beach. Reserve your rental property in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Morehead City vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved very early. Booking your vacation property six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Property management companies typically offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Morehead City area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines have offers and deals for local shops and restaurants.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • Choose a designated group leader, select your vacation dates, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Barefoot Bungalow at Atlantic Beach! Pet-Friendly! has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is normally accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, email or call the property management company before you book the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You will need to work out which bed configuration is best for your trip.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the owner about allowable breeds and types before booking.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Add the host's information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Upon arrival, note any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often an incredible resource to find the best local scenic spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let crooks ruin your vacation.
  • Double-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Leave a review! Hosts rely on good feedback to inspire new reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
