Tricks and tips to get the perfect vacation home experience:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • June, July, and August are high season in Emerald Isle. Reserve your rental property in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Morehead City vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • The earlier your group can book, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved early. Booking your vacation home six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property management companies frequently offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Morehead City area travel guides which include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Selecting the perfect vacation rental in the Morehead City area:

  • Select a group lead, select your trip dates, and select a budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Harbor Lights, Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is commonly available online. If you don't see them listed, email the property owner before reserving the property. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches.
  • Does your group require unique amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Some properties allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the host about pets before booking.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your . Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To make sure no damages are attributed to your stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon check in. text the host immediately to report any damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few concerns.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and scan for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on good reviews to inspire future bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your experience find their best rental home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
