Strategies for getting the perfect Emerald Isle rental home experience:

Getting the best rental value:

  • Summer time is high season in Emerald Isle. Reserve your rental property in Fall or Spring to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Morehead City vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Often, management companies supply Morehead City area visitor guides which often include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Select a designated group leader, choose your vacation dates, and select a maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your family needs. Family and Pet Oriented Home That Will Assure You of Wonderful Memories has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available on booking pages. If not, email the property manager before booking your home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches.
  • Does your family require unique amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
  • Some properties allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property manager about your furry family members before booking.

More considerations:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your phone.
  • At Check-in, document any issues with the property and immediately alert the owner. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few problems.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your peaceful home. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your rental while you're away. Keep your property safe!
  • When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to make sure you have not leave anything behind. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave a review! Property owners rely on good reviews to drive new reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
