Tips and Tricks to get the best Emerald Isle rental experience:

Getting the best rental value:

  • Summer is the most expensive season in the Morehead City area. To get the best value, consider changing your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer great temperatures, , and reduced traffic.
  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your family qualifies for a discount.
  • Property managers frequently offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Morehead City area travel guide magazines that include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Morehead City visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Filter your rental search:

  • Select a group lead, choose your trip dates, and choose a max budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your group needs. Sound & Seadogs Great Stay Middle Row! EI Bungalow 1 Min. Walk to Beach & Sound! has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is often available online. If you don't see them listed, call the property owner before you book the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to work out what bed configuration is best for your family.
  • If there's a certain Morehead City destination you crave, browse properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
  • Some properties allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property manager about pets before booking.

Know before you go:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your smartphone.
  • Record any damages to the property during check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be helpful if a dispute arises.
  • Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a terrific source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your vacation home while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • Re-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed everything at check-out. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a fantastic stay? Many rental websites make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
